This species is distributed in the mountainous regions of Taiwan at altitudes above 1500m.
The first butterfly species that obsessed me was also one of Taiwan’s endemic fauna. It was during spring when I had the opportunity to capture the renowned Papilio hopponis with my own hands.
The limitations in transportation and the considerable distance prevented me from witnessing this beautiful creature until March 2020.
The wing patterns are the most distinctive feature of this species, accompanied by its vibrant blue and greenish coloration on the upper side. These characteristics make it the most vivid butterfly found at elevations above 2000m.
